My name is Margaret Abraham and my passions are photographing the wildlife and landscape around my home of Grande Cache Alberta.

I was born in England and came to Canada to work in the Entomology Department at the University of Alberta for a year in 1967. I loved the wide open spaces, clear blue skies and mountains, so stayed.

My dad gave me a camera when I first came to Canada and because the Entomology Department had a darkroom I used to go to the mountains on the weekends with friends [which is where I met my husband], photograph the scenery, then spend my lunch hours during the week in the darkroom.

In 1974 my husband and I left Edmonton and moved to Grande Cache where I opened a home based Portrait and Wedding Studio. Being at home with my two children and the ability to photograph was a dream come true.

In 1994 I joined the Professional Photographers of Canada and as a photographer, it was the best thing I ever did. I am still a member and continue to attend seminars, workshops and conventions. I’ve earned eight Accreditation and in 2003 was named Alberta Portrait Photographer of the Year.

Now years later, my children are grown up and have websites of their own (Rocking I Quarter Horses) and my husband has retired so I’m selling my studio props and backgrounds so we can spend more time traveling and hiking. I’ve come full circle and am back photographing the landscape, wildlife and insects in my beautiful mountain home and wherever our travels take us.
