After The Storm

DRIFTING CLOUD

Clouds Drifting Away

It felt like we were climbing Mount Everest as the snow came up to our knees with every step. It was only a hike up a local quarry a few kilometers from Grande Cache and with every step I said to myself ” what goes up, must come down”.
GRANDE MOUNTAIN

Grande Mountain From Edco Quarry

Heavy spring snow, maybe 8 inches had fallen over night adding to the winters accumulation. We had left our snowshoes in the garage as we had expected the snow to be packed down by skidoos. Even tho it was mid afternoon no one had been out.
DREAMSCAPE

Blanket Of Snow Covers The Quarry

We plowed our way through the deep snow to the top which looked nothing like a quarry. Covered with a blanket of snow it was more like a Dreamscape. The clouds were gradually lifting revealing the surrounding mountains. Mt. Louie, Flood Mtn. Stern Mtn and Grande Mtn. were all now visible.
